ONLY SO MUCH

ONLY SO MUCH

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

a mind filled with stress

"

ONLY SO MUCH

A sturdy knock at the door heard its intended rival.

Things must be paid,

Lather of the hide was one thing.

The need to freeze stood by the doorstep of his feet.

Whether he remained or moved was of little value.

The other, once again, performed his knock of the door.

The moment couldn't last much longer,

his icy step neared the door

on the other side stood everything

but the consequence was he couldn't bare more than two

he crumbled under the sheer madness of it all.

It was Phoenix 1983. The stress of work, triage nurse in ER, writing, PTSD, acting all came down on me. I crumbled, homeless, hitch hiked to PA then up to New Hampshire for 3 years.

Regards,
Al

when the wolves come to harvest what is owed the mind cannot help but crumble...

debt is the biggest stressor, maybe more so than love.
it waits outside that door and just knocks louder and louder...our mind goes numb from the pounding.
