Dreams & Nightmares in Angola

Dreams & Nightmares in Angola

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Deep sorrow in Angola

"

Dreams & Nightmares in Angola

Consternation...........misgivings

Thoughtless crimes digging into civilization's craw.

A baby cries.......a child screams

Kids dying in Jaguar coffins

The day never ending really

Just as a planet turns & turns

We could all take a hard swallow of the pain

Maybe give a buck two eighty

But the stance, the posture

Can't hold everything together

Split, the structure of reality

making its way through dreams & nightmares.

You have to wonder why black people in power and the subsequent rich people who occupy these countries use brutality in their every day lives. Thanks guy!

when we stop and think about how many 'Amgolas' are out there, it's difficult to wrap our heads around the types of people who run these countries... as people are brutally mistreated each day for trying to exact change (journalists, anti-government protesters, etc.) the world continues to spin and the rest of us live relatively happy lives...and we can give as much money as we can afford to help the effort of those wanting change, or to help feed and clothe those in need, but how much of it reaches that place where it is needed? Fighting a giant with pennies might not be enough. Great write, Al.

Heard about the story on PBS. I wanted to cry.

Thanks!

the planet turns and seems often to turn away from those unfortunate ones who suffer at the hands of others...

we send a few bucks to a cause...but does it really make a dent...and is that all we can do?

a moving write..."kids dying in Jaguar coffins" is quite the line, my friend.
