A Lie in the Heart

A Lie in the Heart

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Adulthood first time

"

A Lie in the Heart

He sat quietly
the air seemingly indifferent to his posture.
A lie,
A lie had lodged in his own heart,
A lie,
Nothing else existed at this moment.
He sat quietly
the air seemingly indifferent to his posture.
A lie,
A lie had lodged in his own heart.

It was several years later that he rose,
Several years,
He stood as several more years passed,
Several years,
As the lie lived in his heart
In league with his blood,
In league with his mind,
In league with the very heart of him,
his soul.

It hit me hard in the early '80s. I spent 5 years getting back together. Thanks for visiting.

Knowing is half the battle I suppose. The ugly truths behind the lies are difficult to accept so we push them to the back and eventually they become part of us, until we confront them. Good write Al. Very sombre feelings.

For me it was Nam my first adult experience.

as Fleetwood Mac sang, "tell me lies tell me sweet little lies, tell me tell me lies/ oh no you can't disguise, you can't disguise"

and you can't...they live within, and we feel them every day.
