Faceless Enemy

Faceless Enemy

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Unknown to self

"

Faceless Enemy

You faced the north well
I am lost with you
I am lost without you
I can't get the gears of my soul to mesh
You are women as trooper
Brave beyond your years
Who continues to touch me gently
In the afternoon of our affairs
Night came and a toothless hunger
Admitted me to an oral decent in dark bowels
Forever hungry for your love
Forever doomed to a faceless enemy

really like the dental metaphor in this...and even after death, those most close to us still touch us---
gently.
