A Candy Vietnam Village

A Candy Vietnam Village

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

A day in the war

"
Kids sparkle like morning dew,
Eyes grew bigger in a fairy tale balloon,
The war stayed silent as we lived that day
Troops searched their pockets for morsels of favor
The kids surrounded the giver of gifts
Candy in hand
Candy in the air
Candy surrounding the war's silent air
I couldn't be happier with kids a strew
We had won the war if only for a few.

Thanks Chris! I wonder what happened to those kids?

I hated that we lost but isn't wasn't our fault. Damn! All that suffering!

there are reasons to rejoice among the chaos...this is one of them...and very well penned.
