On the Trail

On the Trail

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Walking the dogs

"

Count ten legs
On a path,
The leaves betting
A nuance joy
Takes this tale
Of legs on a trail.

Hershey,
Jackson,
Al,
All ready
The trail standing
Tall on an evening sail.

Smorgasbord of smells
Waiting on the boys noses
Al meanwhile keeps
Them in line
On the trail in closeness.

Unleashed,
Free,
They listen like
Kids on a sound's whisper

Boy I can tell you
The excitement in
Dog's limbs
When walk is mentioned
And the gate of heaven opens
On two boys of best friends.

Thanks! I own Hershey, my friend's dog, for giving me the "Boy Spark". I was without a dog for 11 months. Sam died in 2011 January.
