What a Life
A Poem by
Alfred Kukitz
One solution may not work somewhere else.
On Tuesday we headed into a shoe box.
What a comment on darkness!
I slowly reached inside myself,
found a pair of bright twin thingamajigs,
“Whoopee!”
We headed out only to find ourselves in a larger shoebox,
darker, where thingamajigs don't work so
well.
What a life!

A lovely quirky portrayal of perception. Very good.

Thank you all my fellow poets. I love the company I keep. In fact I wrote something about that once. I have to find it.

Shoe boxes, that is exactly what we do. Move from shoe box to shoe box collecting thingamajig-as and when they stop working? let the maddening cycle begin again. Love how you finish, too.
This is one of those poems that you can hang around, keep coming back to (as what our poet friend jacob's doing) and keep asking, why does this poem make me feels this way? Why does it make me happy? is it really important that I get its exact meaning? Not important, it's how it made You feel...
Excellent piece, AK

Life is such a mystery and I believe one should always be ready for anything, "like expect the unexpected."
Sensible and deep write, great work my friend!

Thanks Jacob! I don't know how that landed.

i always try to get my students to think outside the box...because boxes no matter what size, are always confining.
nicely expressed here, with a good bit of dark humor.
those damn thingamajigs.
