In His Goodness

In His Goodness

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

For all the troops out there in the thick and thin of it. This is for you!

"

He was backing up, loosening his ties to the moment,

Heading for a torpedo zone of the bad.

Casually he glanced the wreckage,

A finger pointing at the stone pointed head of a totalitarian dictator.

Remnants of sophisticated boogie men

Lying among the deadpan streets of yesterday.

The evil could arc across the midline at any time.

He was standing over it all,

The goodness, giving blood, sweat and honor for all the little men like me.

I loved the last two lines.. They are simple straight to the point.. And the poem paints a true picture...

goodness gives blood among the wreckage, and only the stronger survive...

but there are always those who give their lives, for the rest of us to live.

nicely worded tribute.
