Excerpts from the Great VictoryA Poem by Alfred KukitzSometimes the victory is more loss than gain.We were there in the bearing, Seedy victories surrounding the noises of cheer. If we thought that inebriation was the answer We might be saluting our own drunkenness. The story was different. All eyes grew empty; the vacuum sucked them dry. The moment knew only disrespect. Finally the total circumstances felt like torn shattered glass. The dream’s nightmare stared down our souls. © 2014 Alfred Kukitz |
