Europa

Europa

A Poem by Laz K.

Your dress, so varied, regal, and rich,

Once the wonder of the known world,

A testament to grace, grandeur, and

Nobility, is in shameful tatters, soiled,

Torn. Deceived and fooled, it is how it

Began, bounty for a god, taken, seized.

What beast is it you ride now, daughter of

Kings, enchanted, as you were by the

White Bull long ago? What new shores

Await, what offspring from what unholy

Matrimony? Raise your head high, hear

The whispers, heed the murmurs of your

Brood! For too long, you’ve been asleep,

Awake! From your eyes, let fall the scales,

From your garden, cast out the snakes!

Gone is the age of innocence, gone are

Your years of youth. Rise from your ashes,

Proud and worthy Queen, remember who

You are, and what marvel you could be!
