The Triumph of Puppets

The Triumph of Puppets

A Poem by Laz K.

Mesmerized by their own dangling feet,

Wobbling heads, shiny faces,

Eyes that were made to sparkle,

Cheeks painted with the

Likeness of genuine excitement,

The click-clack of their shiny shoes, and

The glow of their coats of varnish,

They blink,

They wink, and

Mouth words that

Dead wood, no matter how glossy,

Cannot comprehend.

Their unfeeling hands lift lifeless blocks,

Erect towers and monuments, and

Shape wheels and wings and,

From the mount of self-deceit,

They declare the triumph of puppets.

These people have to be in politics.

They do paint themselves up to be pretty, just like their dollies and toys but then again, there's always a bully in the yard who takes it all too far by looking like an enraged oompa loompa and just destroys everything in sight, calling it fake news snd denying he done it, whilst he's still doing it!
Well it's either that or a subtle credit to Alfred Hitchcok (funeral march of the marionettes was the tune to Alfred Hitchcock presents, but marionettes freak me out even more than that Trumpet git (just), so he wins, or else he'll say its voter fraud and fake news!

thank you, Lorry, for reading and commenting!
This poem is multi faceted. Gave me strong images of different situations. You took me back to the joy of childhood and watching Punch and Judy shows on the beach and then the mood changed. Then, it turned to polítics and I felt a lead weight drop. A poem of immense contrast. You pack so much into a short poem Laz. An excellent write.
