The good thing about any change in your life, whether it is a relationship or change within, is that you see the flaws almost for the first time and realise finally that you only held on to tklhem like a bad habit, because putting up with what you are used to is easier than changing. So it gives you more time to reflect and although it may not be what you wished for, but it is now your decision to change, knowing how stuck in a habit you were.
We can never stop thinking in quieter moments of thinking about the what ifs, but between those reflections we can take control of our self and actions back completely, knowing that settling for what once was wasn't making us happy either.
I really liked the feel of calm reflection from within this write, and optimism too, looking for another spark within the vast empty space. Great write.
Kaz, your opening image is hypnotic. I paused for quite some time just to savour it alone. now upon my third read of poem I still can't decide: lover to lover, man delving deep into his own subconscious thoughts, combination of both (of course). A chess match on intersecting planes. Great poem, which gives me a multitude of thoughts to sift through
Fire and ice. Felt both the heat and the subsequent coldness here. The she here has given him his freedom which has not provided the desired result. There is restlessness here but I don’t see despair.I see hope for a brighter day. Enjoyed the read Laz. Thank you.
Reminds me of the idea of being buried alive and then having too much time to lie and look at our own reflection...life passing before us, but very slowly, painfully...
and just feeling an emptiness of not having done enough.

This is a somber one. The speaker is addressing an unnamed other with whom he has been very close, but from whom he separated for reasons unspecified. It seems to be an admission of having made a mistake, but also a determination to find another love. That's good; there is no hopelessness here, only a desire to seek correction.
