Remembrance

Remembrance

A Poem by Laz K.

Oh remembrance,

How stern a tutor you are

To make me recount

Every tear shed at her bedside,

Every detail of her

Tortured, saintly face,

Every sigh, every pain of

Her broken body, and

The beauty of her

Immaculate grace.

After winter’s long, deadly hold,

Sunlight peeked in

Through the window panes

Like a playful child.

In the song of birds,

There was a newfound joy,

A hopeful laughter that,

To a leafless world, and

To an unshackled soul,

Signaled a brand new chapter.

Words of grief, pain, remorse, turn into a new phase …. We all have to suffer when we lose and remember a loved one, but that grief enters a new level at some point, something changes us to see a new beginning….at last….thank you for sharing!

Nice is not a word ever suited to someone's passing, yet remembering the love you gave and were given seems at times to be a cruel and unusual punishment for the ones left behind, to replay once happy memories, now tear stained with regret. Yet it will one day be nice to remember that love, once the pain is less raw and you can appreciate more what has been taken, even if it is only in memory.

there has to be something beautiful in the afterlife for those who have suffered so much in this one.
It would only be fair...
Joy piercing bitterness...piercing the somber moments...this poem shows that possibility...
