Ignorance and Innocence

Ignorance and Innocence

A Poem by Laz K.

Ignorance is an old coat

To be discarded, though many

Won’t part with it, treating it

As treasure to be well-guarded.

Like a seed that slumbers

In the womb of the earth,

It must dissolve

In a miraculous birth.

Innocence is a century plant

That blooms but once a lifetime,

To put a hard-earned halo on

A humble head in its prime.

A leafless tree by a placid lake

Standing in the moonlight,

Innocence is a crucifix of

Patience and slow time.

Ignorance and Innocence are too common my friend. Most folks don't want to know the truth. Hard to find people who seek the truth. I enjoyed the movement of words. Laz, you left something for the reader to ponder.
