Dante's All You Can Eat Buffet

Dante's All You Can Eat Buffet

A Poem by Laz K.

On the third floor of an old

Downtown hotel, you’ll find

Dante’s Buffet, where the seats are

Soft and snug, and the lights

Are turned down low.

You’ll chew through the

Simple meals of childhood fast,

And before you know it,

You’re eyeing the meats

Laid bare for you to taste.

Put a bite of pleasure

On your empty-bellied plate,

Enjoy it, and come back soon

For a rare cut of red pain.

When stuffed full, slow down,

And amble down the isle of sweets.

The crowd there is calm;

Their wolfish days a memory.

When you get sick of the feast, stir a

Cup of black bitterness before the

Check comes and it’s time to pay.

The waiter in black will bow and

Say “I hope you enjoyed your stay at

Dante’s All You Can Eat Buffet.”

all you can endure in life...all at one low price...or maybe there is a catch...and the expense
is feeling life cheated us on the bill, and we are leaving unsated.

Terrific metaphor here for life. What a journey, what an end. And then there's all the emotions and inbetweens. I was hungry for breakfast, but have lost my appetite. Great read Laz.
