Vanity

Vanity

A Poem by Laz K.

Like Cassandra, once
Cursed with a gift,
I birth words that
Scatter and fly like
Dust in the wind.
I share my bed with
Corruption and lies,
O vanity, vanity, all is vanity!
The cold truth shivers,
Wrapped in a thin, torn
Blanket of sanity.
A dark veil hangs
Over my soul and
My clumsy brush
Paints this fair, green
World gray and black, for
The ignorance and bliss of
Youth, the sweet taste of
Love have gone, and
Will never come back.

Vanity will cost us in the end...truth and humility make for the world to stay much greener...greener than the so called pastures on the other side of the fence...
I remember the ignorance and bliss, but it surely only lasted a moment.
then a long life of wondering why followed.

It is so sad that ignorance is a bliss we are ignorant of. Ah, then we become wise and have the remnant of our lives to repent of wisdom.
