Umbrella

Umbrella

A Poem by Laz K.

Sorrow is a steady drizzle

Falling from the sky.

It soaks the world,

Trickles down the hills,

Gathers in streams,

Fills the salty seas.

We set sail in search of

An island of peace to

Escape its tyranny - in vain.

But, when you hold me close,

When you hold me tight,

This dark world is filled with light.

“Never mind the rain or the cold,”

Your eyes seem to say,

“Love is an umbrella, and

Under it we’ll stay

Till the day when

We’re old and gray.”

I like the conversational last stanza...and the metaphor carried throughout this so well.
touching write, Laz.
makes me want to go outside where it is drizzling right this minute...and feel its peace.
