Water Lilies at Giverny

Water Lilies at Giverny

A Poem by Laz K.

Lilies don’t last

Nor eyes that adore and

Caress them daily

Half blind, broken,

Plagued by doubt,

We start another canvas

Some speak in words

Others in color, and

I in syllables of you

It is rare to say so much with so few words. Excellent work.

I had white lilies in a vase in my hallway all last week. Their scent intoxicating. They didn't last. The Monet print of water lilies in my dining room has. I love it. It's all to do with the light. The way the light falls. So many paintings he did of waterlilies. The final stanza of your poem speaks volumes.

They (Wikipedia) say he painted 250 of these. I wonder if any of them pleased him? Any of them pleases me, but I am not Monet or anything like a Monet. This poem pleases me except for one word in the title as printed. A small thing.
