Sunrise

Sunrise

A Poem by Laz K.

What use is the sunrise to me

Now, that I cannot share

Its beauty with you?

I care no more for

Its golden hues, nor

The grandeur and the silence

Of early morning mountain views

The light of the world

Is mere gossip to the blind

Where do I take shelter from the

Winter in my mind?

What else can I do now, but

Wear a smile like a bandage

To mask the scars and wounds

Of our severed bondage?

I sit alone with your fading silhouette, and

Listen to faint echoes of your dying voice

Wherever you’ve gone

I’d follow, but my feet are stuck in the sand

Here, on this desert island

Where we built our castles in the air

Where sadness drizzles slowly like ashes

Settling softly on withering flowers, and

Leafless branches

' Where do I take shelter from the - Winter in my mind? - What else can I do now, but - Wear a smile like a bandage - To mask the scars and wounds - Of our severed bondage?'

For me those words stand as your poem's core. A heart in mourning. Yet, perhaps, I wonder if there is still life to share with the other beloved person who might well have loved the All Around and wanted to share it with you, And now, knowing that, you might use time to still look, listen and still share.. and remember. Perhaps.

That said your last four lines are beautiful.

My words were meant as kind and not lacking in empathy.. believe me.

This is heartfelt, and describes the pain of loss in poetic style, and metaphor. Very nice!
