This is a favorite of mine, it is a short story left completely unedited from the moment it was written, enjoy.
“Fine art leaks melancholy drama” said the sheep to the cat getting all her purr and fur in something of a muddle
“No fine art is mastered by the farmers” said the frog
The cat’s twisted whiskers twitched at the thought
“oh no” said the pig scoffling the scrap slipping down and around his chin “art is only fine if you can digest it”
“you’re wrong” the cockerel sang “fine art is the measure of one’s self”
The cat beat her own tail in contemplation, her perking ears curling to the rumours of the farm.
The cat covered eyes with paws, questions with yawns, she did not want to see any more of responsibilities and debates of the farm she just wished to sleep, play and survive, why couldn’t just that be considered fine art?
The cat drifted into a nap full of self loathing as she pondered the perhappenings of the possibility that she would never understand fine art, maybe she would have to keep moving if she wants to survive in such a structured environment?
Curiously cat considered whether she had the ability to adapt into the ways of the wise and favoured sheep. Is it wise to become another animal for the peace of simplicity?
"Is it wise to become another animal for the peace of simplicity."
Brilliant.
In part, the Cockeral and the Sheep are the masters of their devices here.
The Frog leans more towards the forgotten fool.
Though the pig, ever so lost in his gluttony. As are most people.
I note that the cat says nothing. She listens, intently, to the squabble of the other animals.
She is the wisest of them all, for wisdom is not answers, but a series of questions which make you consider multiple answers.
In the end she wants to be free, but with so many possibilities laid out before her she doesnt know how.
Fine art is indeed melancholy, though how the wording is presented suggests something else, much more. It 'leaks' as if requiring a patch. Like it doesnt belong, as if seething out of something far grander.
"Fine art is mastered by farmers". Is fine art determined by the care takers of the world. Interesting, can fine art only be created by those who have seen oppression and struggle? Thats an interesting take, though I don't agree with the frog, art can be created by anyone with the imagination to create it, whether born in poverty or wealth. Its the person, not the adversity or the conditions brought up in.
"Art is only fine if you can digest it"
Ill leave the pig alone, he's too human, he's too easy.
Now the Cockeral on the other hand is opinionated, he doesnt simply suggest an alternative, he out right claims everyone else is wrong. Set in his ways, consistant this one is. But what he says does have some potential, fine art in a way can be determined by the measure of one's self, though that entierly depends on whether or not the creater of said fine art is aware of themselves.
Writing, as with any art, is indeed a self endeavor, as it should be. You write or paint for yourself, no one else. Sure you may choose to share it but that does not mean its for anyone else, if someone misinterperates it thats their failing not yours. Art is selfish, and it should be.
People are too effected by the opinions of other animals. So they lose themselves.
They identify themselves with it too much.
Like a kid who goes to school wearing his favorite pants, someone tells him those pants are ugly, suddenly he doesnt like them any more. If someone doesnt like your art should that then mean you shouldnt either?
Its important for an artist to know their self worth, otherwise their no artist at all, just a fool writing or throwing paint at a canvas.
It is indeed the measure of ones self, but it can only be measured by how much the artist listens to the other people. The point is, not to care. Its the measure of ones self is you know your self worth.
The cat needs to understand this if she ever wants to be free. You thoughts are your own, and most people tune out their own thoughts to encumber themselves with others useless opinions, drowning in such confusion.
We always have the ability to adapt, hell people adapt to eating toilet paper. That is one thing about humans that confuses scholars for years, how one is able to ignore their instincts and adapt, like celebicy for example, that is completely against nature, though people do it. Refusing to repopulate your own race is startling. We can always adapt to new enviornments, thats what makes people interesting, how they survive. Before nobility, survival.
The cat will be ok, if she simply listens to herself.

hmm this is quite interesting. shaping oneself to the image of perfection to another's viewpoint. i think that this one dear ally is fine as is. no real structural problems or reviewing particularly needed. However, If you wanted to expand it a little Im kind of interested in why the cat chooses the sheep's viewpoint as the focal point and not one of the other animals though. could you maybe explain that in a little more detail?

I just realized you answered my own question. Whoops. Lol
An interesting play of personalities, stereotypical takes on a concept that transcends stereotypes, but only if it is allowed to. Particularly interesting to me is the take of the pig and the cockerel, the contradiction and the justification behind both. For another to consider something fine art, they must be able to digest it to some extent, to gain some sense of fulfillment from it. But at the same time, art is not art if I believe it is, art is art because the artist created it and thus put themself into that thing that they call art.
Add then the question the cat rings up, which is to an extent very piglike, in that art can be found in sleeping and living, but if it is not digestible by the public, is it fine art? If it isn't captured and distilled, is it art? Many pedestrian arts exist, look at how well things like little house on the prairie do, when it is nothing but realism. But would it have been artful if the ingles family story had never been written down? Does the art generate in the painter, or the fruit bowl?
More questions than answers. I like what you wrote, it made me space out and ponder
I think the last question really asks an important question within society. Do we adapt for the sake of some body elses ideals, or do we remain true to our own beliefs and style? The sheep follows, the pig is feed and becomes breakfast, the cockeral is a symbol of strength and power, talons bared to defend. But the cat is aloof and would be best to see it's power in a ball of string and the essense of cute that it can control humanity with by default! =D
I really enjoyed how you put personality into the animals!
