What is the true definition of happiness? Which would you choose?
with the hands of a farmer she tucked in bed, the loves of her life and watched them lay so quietly, she sat back to remember those days long ago wondering how would it be if she, had chosen a different path and walked through another door into some other world
in another world, filled with crass and concrete he looks out the window, forty floors high and dreams, of a simpler life, other than this chaos he finds himself in, constantly. airports, meetings, phone calls, people always people churning schedule booked up for years, eighteen hour days, oh! just to breathe and be
the young boy in his father's home playing outside till dark as a kid, when his dear mother would call 'dinner's ready, come in and eat' how he wished he were there, just once, again
she lay down beside him and suddenly realized with great relief as she pulled close to this man, who lay sleeping he promised her anything back then, the moon, the stars, his heart his world. and tho' they were but simple farmers unknown to others and yet, she knew deep inside she had more than she could ask for more than she ever dreamed, this life to her meant everything
he closed his briefcase and glanced at the clock one hour till the next flight his boss walked by, snapping 'gotta go! gotta run! right now!' he ran to the taxi 'gate six and hurry!' he barked tears of regret flowed freely from sad eyes, as those memories of a simpler him faded, washed away in his pain human rain...
This is something in my learning list in choosing which one will be more pleasurable to be....simple or subtle....in the subtle and suitcase life am just gonna have some worldly fancies and day after day the schedules increasing in the graph!!
But at the other hand the simple hand to mouth life is flattered with joy and no exhaustion without my willing....
Left on time which to choose....
Your poem is inspiring and keeps a learning effects on people....thanks for sharing😊

Alisa js,
"Two Worlds"
Such contrasts within the living humanity of this earth. How many of us know of stories from our elders of life of hard work and farming. Now-a- days as you have shown can be existence within fast paced stress.
Beautiful introduction:"With the hands of a farmer she tucked in bed the loves of her life."
These words actually state what is all important.
Riches, status, and the ill fitted cloak of stress ofttimes are the result of a modern day life style.
Hard working people of any class deserve great respect but is their a fine line which is trod in life for all?
Thought provoker was this one. Great job!
Blessings,
Kathy

Thank you, Kathy for your deeply appreciated comments.
I often wonder what keeps us from our true fit in life... Life is full of trade offs. Usually it is too late when we realize we gave up a part of ourselves we cannot live without.
This one hits hard for me... 46 yr old man, with so many choices and chances in life... Kids leaving home. Health not what it was or ever will be again...
There is a lot to think about in this write.
Still, I think I can only be who I am and live the my choices. Good or bad. Love them or learn from them. Make a choice each day to empower my life to be the best it can be from this point forward.
And maybe... get those farmer's hands back in the dirt to see how it feels. :)
This write hits home for me.
~ "human rain"... is profoundly perceptive and what an expression... simplicity is not in fashion any more... i wonder what people chase... i wonder about the comfort in those schedules... all that racing against time... ~ there's no peace in it... not even one piece of peace... ~ this is exceptional work... beautifully written...
Great writing, I like how you compare the perhaps poor, but simple farm family to the perhaps wealthy, however forever traveling businessman. You're comparing small and simple, to big and complex. From the simplicity of the farm, to the complexity of the business world. From a world that slowly turns, to a world that is constantly moving and evolving. However I do ask this question, what is happiness? Is it anything "we" as an individual say it is, or as a group.
