Staggering Reality

Staggering Reality

A Poem by Alisa Js

standing here
after this generation,
tears flowing beyond my brokenness

unspeakable realizations
chocolate covered lies
sugar coated reasons
why she never really tried

and me, the fool who hoped to see
maybe a peek,
maybe a glimpse
of my lifelong dream
of the woman, who remains unnamed

truth is,
it was less like a dream
more like a scream fest,
as my heart bled
around her toxic mess

after all these years,
after all this time

what a waste
and a death stroke,
inside that young girl's mind

when youth dies, and we move into older age, we look back at the dreams we had that did not come to fruition...and we look back at the messes we made of ourselves...but on a positive note...we learned...we lived, we loved and we did what we could...that has to be a good thing, i surmise.
