Tasteless

Tasteless

A Poem by Alisa Js

and for a time, we were alive again
singing in the rain
soaring past the pain of remembering
those cold, dark stares
that brought to the forefront
blades that somehow found their way
to splice a throat to no longer speak
the truth

laughter came easily as the wine flowed
and how we bowed
once the struggles slipped
beyond our grip and once again
I began to believe,
this could almost be

until the demons
arrived.
creeping around each tortured smile
the lies began and I knew,
it was over

broken ties
mismatched lies that never quite fit
timelines next to impossible
and still you expected me to believe

in the face of high improbability
you continued with the farce
and then, I knew
you were nothing more

than tasteless ...
