Aftermath

Aftermath

A Poem by Alisa Js

it wasn't so much the things you said
but rather, the actions that followed
inconsistent,
unexpected
out of left field
hurtful.
and full of rage from a very dark place
blasting away
any chances for
tranquility and peace,
harmony
or anything that resembles
normal,
on this day
in this state

where did we go wrong
and
why didn't I see sooner,
the ravages
of
gas-lighting effects
standing here, shell shocked
chest high
in rubble
and strain
alongside embers of vestige
known in some other world as pain ...
