Choices and Consequences

Choices and Consequences

A Poem by Alisa Js

it was never a question of how
but when,
the way you moved across the room
and how the shadows would blend
as the night took a breath
while the moon burned
red

your voice
how it soothed
on a cold, lonely winter's eve
when no one was around
only you,
only me

there was fire and ice
happy and sad,
and yet, I could not leave you
I chose to remain
in the midst of the flames
in spite of

everything

everyone

but me.

I wonder if you remember
I wonder if you still care
could we have lasted
beyond what we dared

to touch
to dream
to conceive and believe...

Breath-taking eloquence Alisa
"...how the shadows would blend
as the night took a breath
while the moon burned
red..." - *gasps*

The ending of this one reminded me of a prayer my mum would make me recite as a child at bedtime. Such a delicate sign off to this tour de force.
