somewhere between hopeful and get lost

I misunderstood

forgot the protocol

lost my spare key

languished in forever

standing by the honor

believed in forever

apparently not meant to be

at least not in the way I view forever

not in the way I understand

so many changes 

life turns and doors slam

maybe I'm stuck in old fashioned commitment

compassion that does more than spell pretty sounds

caring that lasts beyond one breath

or two skips,

lights out...

~ oh, this is intensely precise and perceptive poetry, dear alisa... ~ and i relate deeply to all that you say about "forever" with beautiful images... "compassion that does more than spell pretty sounds" is sheer genius in poetic expression... it reveals how so many people are experts in making the right sounds but not actually being compassionate human beings... ~ and i really loved the poignant closing of this piece...
