maybe you were the last heart I would ever need 

but I threw you away 

with all the rest, as I often do 

not realizing 

not heeding 

your tender hearts plea 

bound now 

through all eternity 

why didn't I believe

or recognize you 

and now we'll never know

as that chapter's now  closed

Reading this, it's like one was presented with a golden opportunity for true love, failed to pursue it and regrets having not done so. I tend to think many of us have done and or perhaps continue to do it to this day. Amazing as always...

Well you know that I don't consider poetry in the same light as the emotional advice column..no offense intended to any reviews, but this is about writing and so I review in light of that. This piece feels real but a bit thin. Although if poetry be bound, than let it be bound to an emotion perched on pain or ecstatic reality. A short and poignant piece... but I know you can do better, Sweat dear poet SWEAT!!.smiles. Sorta feels like you are clearing your throat so something good must be coming our way. Wink~

well yes, been here, done this...several years after my first divorce, i was still pushing people away---there were chances, with some awfully good relationships...but i could only go so far and then had to leave...many what if's....

-- ohhhh... -- this lament is excruciating, dear alisa... and it is expressed in your words so intensely and so poignantly that i can feel it... -- sometimes, we're in a kinda stupor... and we don't realize what we're doing... -- at least, that's what happens to me when i'm not in the moment... and not thinking straight... -- i miss the most obvious thing in my own life...
