Break-ness

Break-ness

A Story by Alisa Js

where do we go from here, my love
the ground swell has shifted
the weather has worn
and yet,
nothing has changed
motives have swept by and wept
not for us
but for them

them.

curious spies of the leather hide
snickering  behind smiles
open wide
inside

how is it I didn't recognize
too busy doing good
living well

left by the back side

watching the lies
as they hang
smug behind texting
without eyes to believe

what did I offer
I thought it was love
family
heart
compassionate care

belonging to no one

my lesson spurned
without conscience or slightest sniff of regard ...

If there's one thing I've learned in life is that people feel empowered to say and or profess whatever they so choose from behind a screen as it's far to easy to say something when they're not face to face with that individual while saying and or professing whatever they so desire. Worst part is they fail to realize the hurt, the pain, etc caused by such actions. As they never see it, don't have to live it. Yet they miss the fact the person to whom they do these things is offering something genuine, be it love, kindness, compassion, etc. and they don't see it. So sad, so very sad indeed. Amazing work as always...

Had you not come into my life, who knows if i'd still be here today...
-- it's heartbreaking when that "lesson is spurned"... -- and i think the expression "without eyes to believe" is very insightful... -- i just cannot comprehend why people are so cynical that they cannot witness the compassion unravelling before their very eyes... -- i try to tell myself that maybe they had a rough childhood or a rough life... but then i think... so did i... and i'm lost in the inability to understand cynicism yet again...

-- this is a beautiful piece of poetry... which has the courage to study one of the most complex dimensions of the human condition... -- excellent work, dear alisa...
