so many beautiful lines AJ, I have to agree this is my favorite part too "we will roll up against our next sun
before it sets, and darkness begins" . Let's take a long drive she said somewhere into the paradisical sunset.
'.. and together, -- we will roll up against our next sun -- before it sets, - and darkness begins .. '
Beautiful, visual!
Your writing captures language so very skilfully. But 'tis more than that: you place your words very carefully as if they're fragile.. and that makes your intent emotional yet utterly sincere. My impression - right or wrong, is of someone almost at the top rung of a ladder.. foot raised to reach the top - decision made. .
Your poem is very beautiful. I picture dusk falling on the day as these words are spoken. They have a soft quiet feel to them, as if a serene pause follows.
Alisa, your first verse captured me, swallowing your words hook, line and sinker. I couldn't turn away. And the digging thru the ashes, looking for the flicker of a still lit ember to rekindle the flame, I love the metaphor (having used it myself). Your yearning is so real in your words. And your word play is sheer poetry, exquisite expression that had me giving you my heart to ride shotgun with you to anywhere but here. Beautifully done Alisa. Indeed!

Aloha B.J,
I am flattered and touched by your kind words. Thank you!
Hi my friend. 'Survivalists' can carry fire from B to A, with them, in the form of a single ember. Often at precursory glance the portable flame seems to be cold and done but with the right amount of TLC can become once more give warming and life-giving output.
Wow @ 'tired of driving alone..."
Excellent writing Alisa.

So many questions... Maybe just the act of giving a sigh is the acceptance of the moment's gift.
Describably wonderful! (I had to make up the word...) ha.
