A Poem by Alisa Js

the ingredient for mischief was severly lacking
as sour traces pressed against the bane of hope long forgotten
bitterness impounded her every word and empty stare
searching for something that still made sense
in this land of illusion she now called home

it was different on her planet
her birth place, her dome
of intelligence that once was
somewhere
before this strife

no one escapes
which one of these doors holds the hidden key
which one is nothing more
than an empty hologram
left behind from some feeble failed attempt
the one you can never forget

How skillfully you have crafted this work about a most difficult theme. A very enjoyable read worthy of reading again. Very well done.

Happy new year to you and your family... You're most welcome.
I think self-induced illusions are the hardest to contend with because it is we who give them extra power - we have to work harder on them so that they do fool us.
When others fool us we can forgive them (eventually) but we can be so unforgiving of ourselves.

Powerful emotions in this Alisa.

You are very welcome..wishing you well. 😃
I had more to say... I accidently posted. Must be my age. ha. Ouch, that hurt a little.
I loved the write BTW. We can escape I think. No, not the realities and the effects of our causes, but we can make choices where eternity is a solid expectation rather than some ethereal hologram. IMO...
Anyhoooo, love the poetry.

Ah... Someone needs a peppermint patty... I just ate one and the hologram is gone. ;)
The spice of life is "mischief" indeed. Well intended and nondestructive of course. Still, a few empty calories will make it all taste so good and then we can actually digest the nutrients.

Thank you, David...I will go look for one now. Sounds tasty!😃
I have just written a review for a poem that was about Alice in wonderland and see a striking similarity in your words and Alice down the rabbit hole. The strangeness that surrounds us as we grow, where every decision made leads us to a new door to confuse us even more. But we must move on, as we will never find our path back. We just hope that the next door is not one of holographic regrets.
Beautiful writing Alisa

-- ah, i miss my home planet too... -- riveting stuff, alisa... -- reminds me of how much playfulness we lose to our painful experiences...

This one was inspired by true story, based on my observations of certain females I know...😱
behind which door is the woman she once was when she had dreams, and a recipe for mischief...now she is compacted into what she considers a small life she cannot get out of ...

her own intelligence that just got absorbed in his and she has lost her identity...

vibrant read here...with the imagery.
