Time Span

Time Span

A Poem by Alisa Js

How long must I stand here
behind family and friends?
Will this flame remain constant
or last long enough,
To signal my direction
back to the beginning,
before this long pause.

Let us not let this season slip through our fingers
time has a way of letting things flow,
Unspoken tears hold words inside water
fading from view before we're completely aware

Softly we struggle and gently we weep,
it will be daylight only a few moments longer
We've blinked and it's midnight
decades have sped somewhere
while clocks on the wall fumble
and time sleeps,
It seems like only yesterday you were here
present in my world
And now?
Gone longer than I think I can remember
or even dare to admit ...

Hi
"Unspoken tears hold words inside water
fading from view before we're completely aware"

This part is very good I think. It could; probably should be a stand alone piece.
