What kind?

What kind?

A Poem by Alisa Js

what kind of love says all the right words
but fades when something of substance would mean everything
why so casual on the edge of a very high ledge of nothing flowing
other than empty sounds mixing with a hot, summer breeze

what kind of love tells you, 'forever'
only to forget
fall quiet
lay low
remain out of reach without explanation
half-hearted reasons to believe
something is wrong here and it's not me

what kind of love stands the test of time
is it really the fluttering eyes that keep one occupied
or could it be
the one who is there when you need him
day or night,
the one who will be there
regardless
in spite of...

~~ i like the level of introspection in this piece... ~~ these are the right questions to ask... even if they don't led to expected answers... ~~ the rational slogger in me thinks that ultimately the one we love is the one we can be closest to... irrespective of all else... ~~ there could be times when visible reciprocation is not a given... but we're still able to communicate as intensely as we could right at the beginning... or maybe more and more intensely with the passage of time...

In Greek there are four words for love that are translated into one English word Love. The Greek separates the different kinds of love and the first two you have written of would be Phileo which simply means to befriend. The last and rarest kind is agape that is pure, powerful and eternal.

You know I loves ya but ...Again with the "edges and ledges" and "just out of reaches? Trying to push you into the best direction…You are the poet of love and should write with all the power of free metaphors….Still loved the passion of it but try to find the new. Your readers and talent deserves your blood A. ..Mwuah!

I liked this poem! That kind of love is very hard to find. But if you are able to find it then you have something special. Thanks for sharing!

Aloha Stephen,

Yes , indeed...if one can taste true love...it is indeed magical!😍
Aloha 'Goldilocks' my fine poetess friend

- I felt the first stanzas lover to be a playa (not the Spanish beach kind)
the second stanzas lover to be a frightened boy/ mothers boy
and the third to be 'just right'

forgive me and the 'Goldilocks' quip please - just a bit of Belfast humour.

😱typo alert
i like the transition of this poem...when it talks about those relationships that wane...the conversation becomes mute...no more to say, no more to feel...
but this relationship is the deep kind...no words really needed..no explanation, no expectations...just an understanding of love.
