If Only

and yet still 

you, me 

gazing through different eyes

from different worlds 

dare I say 

opposite polls, oceans apart 

fleeting bursts of blissful madness 

infectious laughs 

beaming hearts for days without end 

we clutched our souls as this felt so right 

the glimpse of your style 

caught me off guard, 

and I knew you were trouble 

first time fire blazed through 

and we found ourselves suspended 

bending time, 

only me and you 

then silence came without warning

silent shock, 

dropped calls 

you were gone, never to be found 

I bemoan our rich trove of delicacies 

and can't let go 

I see you in each crowd, 

hear you all around 

if only,

this were true...

Alisa, It's not clear how this relationship ended (dropped calls?) maybe one just tired of the other; but whenever a valued relationship ends, no matter how or why, there always remains a bruise on the soul, an empty spot where the relationship once dwelled. A friendship jumping from boom to bust...how sad. A very plaintive and well-written piece. take care...dan

It was a very intense relationship for almost a year and then suddenly, one day he was gone! Approximately six months later, he sent me an email...and then nothing. Apparently he moved, but without a way to contact him,it's hauntingly bizarre..,his phone doesn't work, emails don't either...I shudder to think what really could have happened😱

~~ a very beautiful and moving heartsong, dear alisa... ~~ it reminds me of my story... ~~ after i met my partner, i realized that those i'd met before him had traces of him... ~~ and yet... when i was with them... i would think they were "the one" and i'd be deeply disappointed when things didn't work out... for whatever reason... ~~ now... when i look back... i'm amused... ~~ life is a bewildering experience...

Yes, life is all that and more. I have noticed as I journey forward, certain events that may have appeared inconsequential at the time, in retrospect now have great meaning...
