Choices

Choices

A Poem by Alisa Js

it was in the second half of the third attempt
when the wall came down,
illusions of safety
splatters of comfort
lazy chats around some long ago summer fire in some far away space
gone.
without even a hint of good-bye

unfiltered exchanges slide verbal
deep set emotions surfaced, though afraid to be seen
faulty transmission, years in the making
dysfunction at best

there is no safe harbor
these steps are half-broken and crumbling

is this true madness?
when all roads lead to heaviness
regardless of how hard you try to realize

where is the welcome sign
that true sense of longing and cherish
they say it's about choices
choices, you say

what if

what about

who cares, anyhow...

I'm almost at the point of not trying
this round

The opener - reads like a mystery novel Alisa - instant hook !The enitre poem is replete with moving, bittersweetness - the apathy at the end is so sad. A relationship coasting - heading for the rocks.
Beautifully affecting Alisa - heartbreaking...

On the flip side, it is better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all😍

Aloha,

Thank you for stopping by. I will be by soon,

Alisa 😄
When sleep will not come, our minds are in charge of the trips we take. We can think of the what ifs and why nots and if onlys for hours. Yes, we all have choices and once they are made, we can not take them back or change the outcome. A very emotive write. I liked it. Lydi**

:: it's a very powerful and insightful piece of writing, dear alisa... :: and... it's triggered a million thoughts... :: i think when we get connected with people, we are not just impacted by our choices but by their choices as well... and then there are choices that our families make, our neighbourhoods make, our city's make, our countries make and global leaders make... :: and respecting diversity is fine... but what really makes my life heavy sometimes is when i have to make an effort to somehow assimilate the impact of choices that my loved ones make... and i'm sure my choices make their lives heavy too... :: these days i just bury myself in my work... or in a book... or in a film... and tire myself by about 3 am... and i still have a lucid dreaming problem...

:: in short, life is indeed heavy... and i think i relate to this poem so much... that i am reminded of how some days when i just switch off... :: thank you for triggering so many thoughts... somehow i feel more sorted out after reading this incredibly thought-provoking poem... :: it could well be my favourite poem by you...
