It Was and Is

It Was and Is

A Poem by Alisa Js

I must be sitting here with blinders on
legs crossed
hands tied behind my heart
as I let no one get too close

too close to let go

if I hold you at this length
you're never too far
my mind can relish the almost
taste the what if's

and  never hear, 'no'

i know what this feeling is...keeping those who want to get close to us at arm's length.

i love the way you describe it in this poem...great analogy...
