Dream Lands

Dream Lands

A Poem by Alisa Js

maybe we didn't have to end up like this
hopelessly waiting on opposite ends
maybe if we'd gotten past the unbroken bridge
or crossed over the landing
we'd see

the agony of our ecstasy
creeping from within
pleading for another attempt,
but why

strolling among yesterday's scenes
we stumble,
unable to discern
between those from another face
and this day
left back against some distant hillside
next to a forgotten smoke

we hiccup,
suddenly aware
it's cold out here and the weather is quite dreary
what did the sunshine succumb to
where are those singing birds in spring?
or did we forget it's still winter

the hypothetical looks most attractive now
leading in points next to reality,
which places a distant third

we loved and laughed or at least thought we did
the stakes were much smaller then
now the landscape lies bittersweet
between fruitcakes and marmalade ...

~ exquisite poetry... absolutely mesmerizing, moving, thoughtful and thought-provoking work... philosophically speaking, i'd say we may not be discerning yet... but we could be... wouldn't that be amazing ? ... wouldn't that be like a light at the end of a very long winter tunnel ? ... maybe there's a light at the end of it all that makes all the pain worth it... i hope so...
