Mean

This poem is about how people are mean to others for no reason.

Why are you mean?

Is that what you have always been?

Harsh and cruel

Telling kids they're a fool

You don't have a heart

but for those who do

you tore it all apart

stabbing them with knifes

that are full of surprises

calling them names and giving them blames

they're just kids like you

what they do to you

they come to school to learn

but you make them wanna burn

with your salty word

they yell so loud but they are never heard

so please, stop being mean

it's not a good thing

but tell me

why are you mean?

People become this way because they are having problems in there
own lives and take them out on there peers, it's very sad but misery
loves company, I wrote a piece with that title you might

A lot of people vent out their own frustrations and anger by being mean to others though I am not supporting them, its not the right thing to do but sometimes things get the worst of you..

I agree with Jamestown. People are only mean to other's because they are unhappy. In psychology, this is called displacement. They displace their anger and sadness and take it out on other people to try and make themselves feel better. You and anyone else being harassed by this person need to just ignore it and understand that you did nothing wrong and nothing to deserve that anger. It shouldn't hurt you because it doesn't concern you. Take a breath and just relax. Feel bad for the person being mean and be nicer to that person. Dare I say, take the high road. And good luck. Keep writing.

And deal with it we will. Because that's how we get through everything. We trudge along. We push through those problems. School is just a chess game. We move our pawns around the board and try to keep our brave cavalry from being decimated. But there are the dark nights that try to get to the king. Sometimes those dark nights come from within ourselves. School, high school in particular, tests a person's ability to preform under stress. Compartmentalize. Deal with problems as they come up. Pick the battles we wish to fight and ignore those that don't mean the difference between life and death in the social piranha pool. And this game becomes a challenge only when we take it seriously. Socially, friends, boyfriends, bullies, they don't mean a thing in the grand scheme. Its a game. And those who survive are the ones smart enough to see that it doesn't really matter. Only the education matters.
