Should I Forget

Should I Forget

A Poem by Alicia Huntley

My body tingles.
Not in pleasure,
but in hurt.

Your eyes and heart avert.

I feel cold.
So very cold.
I feel alone.

Lies I should have known.

My heart beats quickly,
not in passion,
but in anxiety and fear.

How quickly you promised to be here.

I shake.
I shake violently.
I cannot breath.

Easily you chose to leave.

It hard to not be afraid.
Its hard not to be upset.
Should I wish our memories to fade?
Will happiness come when I forget?

I like your idea here. If you can forget something so scarring then bravo. I think it's natural to feel afraid and upset, but believe it or not the memories will fade if you let them. Nice poem :)

my pleasure dear.
"Lies I should have known".....loved this line. Recalls back to mind a similar sort of line from another or your poems - I think You to Me.

I think Alicia this is best of your stuff I've so far read.....you write with such force, and character.

I don't know whether you came across my last message - I've now posted some of my own writing finally: the opening of the story, which I'm trying to now find an agent for.

Croyan, and Mariel......their the two characters being narrated about.
