![]() You're Dead Like Everyone ElseA Poem by Protect Me Demons That Come At Night
I see you and you see me.
I try to look away, try to avoid looking at pain. You run up to me and force me to stare at your empty green eyes, filled with rage and anger. You're my father- abusive, controlling, evil, hated, dead. You're my mother- vicious, blood thirsty, cruel, hated, dead. You're my brother- lost, hurt, hated, dying, dead. You're dead. You shouldn't mean anything to me. You're dead to me like my family. You're dead to me like my friends. You're dead to me like everyone I ever loved. You shouldn't mean anything, you can't mean anything. But you still do. You haunt me in my dreams. I see your face everywhere I go. You live in my head. You live in my heart. I need to break free from this prison, from this torturous grasp I live in. But it's hard to escape your own skin, especially when your first love lives in it.
