the smallest smile

the smallest smile

A Poem by alice3wonderland

I sit numbly beside a girl in class

A girl with no name

A girl who will not remember me or what I did

A girl innocent and beautiful

Porcelain skin and loose blond curls

Never feeling the pain that I feel every time I close my eyes

It would be so much easier

To look at her

To write to her

It could change her world

Maybe she would have said hi

Maybe she would have made an effort to speak to the quiet girl

Maybe she would have tried to stop me

I look at her

She turns to me

I give a small smile

She smiles back

Maybe not today

But tomorrow...

Disturbing and haunting possibility here.

I liked the poem. I enjoyed how you tempted to create hope and friendship. Sometime a smile and a hello is what someone needs. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
