When M... left (I)

When M... left (I)

A Poem by Alex Thurley-Ratcliff
"

When I was in my late 20s a very close friend moved away. I loved him in many ways, and was heartbroken, but never said anything ... This is about friendship, loss, love and the stupidity of silence

"

When you left
Stood out in the crisp dark
You must have forgotten yourself…

You had.
Part of you stays and, I think,
Only on returning, you can find your self again.

But I think wrong.
You took yourself with you
Maybe to find yourself too.
And the space you left
Will be too small to hold you
Now.
