No words

No words

A Poem by ARLorenz
"

Written after a rough morning

"

Words are fickle friends

They often squirm away from you

like a child

who doesn't want her face wiped

Today I have lost my words

Swallowed by the panic

Which overtook my tongue

this morning while I held that squirming child

My mouth tastes different with the words taken out

Dry and bitter without the sweet syllables

I open wide

Hoping to catch them again

So that I might speak another phrase

And write another poem

Tough morning! When writing and expressing thoughts from heart to paper is difficult, it can be frustrating!!! I won't guess your reasons but for me a numbness that some times leaves me brain dead...You managed to express how i feel some nights... Gratitude to you.
I'm sure I speak for the ones who took the time to absorb your thoughs... We say,Keep writing!!!

Reminds me of the best advice I ever got (from a pro TV writer): "No such thing as writer's block..When you can't write, write about WHY you can't write ...or who pissed you off enough to shut you up."

"My mouth tastes different with the words taken out." Love this line. Enjoyed reading this,
Thanks for sharing.

I love this poem! Writers block happens to the best of us and I found it interesting you wrote about that. Keep writing!!

I can definitely relate to the struggle to find the right words to describe the visions I see in my mind and want to write out. It is certainly a frustrating thing, writer's block. I'd hate to start the day with a bout of it. I'm sorry it was you who had to.
The figurative language definitely does a good job for describing the issues you were experiencing. It was a good piece.

OH this took me back to when I had young kids at home - I often got so angry and then looked back with regret, wishing I could redo those moments in time... - it's just where this took me - I like poems that allow the reader to interpret as they wish - you did that with this one

I'm glad it took you somewhere different from where I was. I don't want my writing to be narrow
This is awesome! Beautiful similies, highly relatable, simple yet full of substance. I can't begin to imagine the writing you produce when you find your words again.. As this little poem seems already incredibly writen to me. :)

Thanks very much!
Not finding the words to express ourselves is really frustrating, we as writers face it many times, I loved the concept of this piece, it has an inherent meaning, lack of words expressing more meaning... Well thought out work frnd... A morning like that is indeed tough...

Sincerely
Dhiman

I'm unsure how to construct this About Me section. What do you want to know? I write about myself in an exaggerated fashion. This keeps me honest and critical. I don't read poems much but that'.. more..
