I think I've got the definition of life figured out now. For starters, it sucks. I'm not gonna sugar coat it because it does suck at some point or another. But most people take advantage of the fact that they live in a huge universe filled with beauty at every turn and are lucky to get to do so. Another thing, life is not fully lived unless you have love. Wether it be love for your husband, your dog, your mom, or your favorite pair of shoes, no one could make it through life without love. Everyday hearts break and people die but that just makes life all the more special. It's not something to take lightly and I'm realizing that daily. I get sad and depressed just as much as the next person but thats when I feel the most human, we all have emotions and its unhealthy not to show them. And at the end of the day I can say from experience that there is no better feeling than picking yourself back up when you've hit rock bottom. It's only then that you can see the world for what it is and life for what you make of it.
Question: If the entire universe is beautiful, then wouldn't nothing be worth appreciating... it wouldn't make us lucky to get to do so... luck would have nothing to do with it. I'm not trying to nitpick, just as I read your piece here, which in general I agreed with and appreciated... that line stuck in my head like a sore thumb... The writer Tom Robbins put it this way: "I believe in everything, nothing is sacred. I believe in nothing, everything is sacred." Point being, that if there is beauty at every turn in a huge universe... then that beauty would become mundane. It would become expected and normal, and no longer something awe-inspiring. At one point having an indoor bathroom was a majorly awe-inspiring idea, then it became common-place, outhouses and holes in the floor ceased being frequented bathroom locations, and the modern bathroom became so prevalent, that now its expected. Same could be said for TVs, at one point, a family having one was a big deal... then 2... now families will have 3 or 4 flatscreens and wonder if they need a new 32 inch for the kitchen... or maybe one for out by the workbench or in the laundry room... if beauty is everywhere, then the novelty wears off. Sorry. I gave you far more than my 2 cents worth. Hope this was constructive, that is the only way I meant it.
Thank you for your well thought out "2 cents." Iam huge fan of constructive criticism and soak it up when I can; this piece was entirely written in 1 minute flat from thoughts spilling out of my head hence the name "what's on my mind", I do however understand your pov and am like the complexity your comment gave to my thought process.

I am lover of writing, music, animals, and realistics. I am straight forward in most instances which makes me a candidate for lost loves and broken friendships. I aspire to conquer many things in life.. more..
