Oenone

Oenone

A Story by Alexis Caitlin King

Where do you stand? Can’t you feel me breathing? I hold this tight
within my hand, waiting for magic to happen. Claustrophobia is setting
in. I live to learn, to laugh, to love. Yet all of these emotions elude
my being, my essence.  I’ve waited all my life for this moment. Outward,
like bright beams of light, come the angels, sent from on high. This
peace keeps me simple. Taoist. Just be. Keep yourself an arm’s length
away from me. Protect all of you, from yourselves. I am the messenger
here. Just see. Recognize. This vastness is empty unless you can feel
out your niche. Look up, the sky is open. Those stars up there are
shining for you.
