It Happens To Be SnowingA Poem by Alene ParrNow against Your cheek, A sudden Cold and wet Sensation. Your vision In a haze From your Breath That has just risen. And you’re not quite sure But did you see A bird fly up above? Against the bright blue skyline A bluebird Or a dove? And even though Your fingertips Are tingling And frozen, You cannot help but be amazed At the song you’ve chosen To whistle with your chilly lips, And warm your frosty insides. While the air is getting colder, You’re quickening your strides. And pushing hard Against the wind Who’s fighting ever harder. And even through your happiness You feel a lowly pulling. And even though The sky is blue, It happens To be snowing. © 2015 Alene Parr |
