A River in the SpringA Poem by Alene Parr
Unfamiliar heat in a cold territory.
Your highest walls can’t hold it And you pray they don’t fall And you pray You aren’t lost In the deep wash Of the breath Of another. And you watch them in their sleep And you wonder If they watch you too. What could you do? Their steady breath defrosts your icy insides And like a river in the spring It overflows from your heart, From your soul From your very being. Or so it seems. © 2015 Alene Parr |
