Happy With a Bit of Sad

Happy With a Bit of Sad

A Poem by Alene Parr

If it takes less muscle
To smile
Than to frown

Then why does a grin
Feel like
A million pounds?

To be happy
With a bit of sad
Instead of down
With a little glad.

A genuine smile doesn't weigh anything at all. It's hard to make the effort when you've got just a little bit of glad.
