For JoyA Poem by Alene ParrYou can’t help but smile Even though A voice in the back of your head Begs you to frown. It’s the sun, glinting off the windows Whispering that it’s going to be all right. And even when the wind bites through your skin There’s a sandy beach somewhere. Jagged cracks still line your beating heart But there’s a warm glow there too. And you can feel it. And you can hear it say that it’s going to be all right. And in this moment, You’re not sure if the tears forming in your eyes Are for sorrow Or for joy. © 2014 Alene ParrReviews
