For Joy

For Joy

A Poem by Alene Parr

You can’t help but smile

Even though

A voice in the back of your head

Begs you to frown.

It’s the sun, glinting off the windows

Whispering that it’s going to be all right.

And even when the wind bites through your skin

There’s a sandy beach somewhere.

Jagged cracks still line your beating heart

But there’s a warm glow there too.

And you can feel it.

And you can hear it say that it’s going to be all right.

And in this moment,

You’re not sure if the tears forming in your eyes

Are for sorrow

Or for joy.

The tears are forming 'cause life is a roller coaster and the key to happiness is to know when to get off...............hopefully at the beach

We live in this world with hope for happiness.
Sometimes frustration engulfs us for certain failures.
Such frustration goes by replacing a success.
Then tears come which may indicate joy or sorrow.
Your poem with optimism touched my heart.
This is wonderful,lovely and spiritual.
Thank you for sharing the great feeling.

It is beautiful..I can totally relate with the same, and it is always tough to understand that things happened this way ! Loved -

This is splendid writing. Nice and easy, the cheerfulness is infectious! My only suggestion would be that you might think about changing the title, it's a bit too cliched for me and this poem deserves better! Great write! :)

Haha, understandable! You're welcome :)
The wound will heal and one will be as good as knew again, or even better than before !

A positive, feel-good poem penned with imaginative flare, splendid indeed !

Thanks for reading! Glad you liked it!
Indeed...it's going to be all right. It's not always easy looking at the brighter side... but sometimes, it's all the comfort we have. ..all we can really do...and it's just enough to get us through. Beautifully written poem, spoke to me deeply.
