Sensations of Green

Sensations of Green

A Poem by Annette Lemma

Sunbeams stream through
Arches of sycamores
Like a vision
Steady beams of light bursting, penetrating
As if God were peering down
Onto the forest floor
Peeking from above
To see what was alive and living.

I am alive and living!

And if it is possible
I can actually smell the color green

Fresh, floral, fragrant green
So pungent that I can almost taste it
Like the freshest garden lettuce just plucked
Or a blade of grass between my lips.

I am alive and living!

The sweetest aroma of dewy garden green
Surrounds me
Clings to me
Impregnates my pores
Until I can no longer smell the difference
Between it's sweetness and my own sweat
That glistens in the rays of light.

I am alive and living!

Soaking in the sensation
Breathing in beauty
Drinking the devine
Pleasure of a private paradise.
