Autumn

Autumn

A Poem by Verina Blanche

Darkness shows itself more quickly

And people are wearing jackets.

The leaves on the trees are turning from a luscious green

To red, orange, and yellow

Before they fall to the ground.

There is a spooky feeling in the air

As children on their bicycles ride

Past houses decorated

With ghosts and witches.

Crops are being harvested

And a man sneezes

as he drives past carrying families on a hayride.

Students crunch through the fallen leaves

On their way to school.

My favorite time of the year.

Beautiful work Ver, this reminded me of my childhood. I love your use of the traffic lights and the sudden onomatopoeic "crunch" towards the end. Well done!

Very cute. I love this time of the year. The pumpkins and the smoky smell is so warm. Your simple little poem brought that all back to mind. Cheers, lea
